Customise Your Immersive Projection with Our Design Tool

Work through the six design help topics to create your basic dome design plan. Then get in touch and share your answers here

1. Room Size

Whether its a fixed or portable location you will be limited by the amount of available space. Measure your avaiable space in metres. If you are unable to measure the space you should estimate. Consider access to the room, maximum door and corridor widths.

2. Interaction

All training simulators will have some form of interaction, this may be as simple as standing inside the dome or a fully functioning replica cockpit. The dimensions of objects are important to consider as they can block the projectors light path.

3. Screen Shape

Screen shapes have varied advantages, they provide different levels of immersion for different types of training simulators. When choosing a shape consider the horizontal and vertical field of view needed to effectively immerse your user.

4. Resolution

Resolution on an immersive display is measured in arc minutes. An arcmin is an angular measurement equal to 1/60 of a degree. We then consider how many arcmins per pixel is required to meet the desired resolution. Typically the higher the resolution the higher the cost.

Below are examples of our Cobra180 Venom series resolution measurements. Most people would be unable to see individual pixels  below 2.5 arcmins/pix.

5. Software

How will you generate the content for your simulator? Understanding which application or the game engine your application was developed on will help us determine how best to integrate real time warping software to render the content correctly in the dome.

6. Support

Support is important and should always be budgeted for. This would include pre-delivery, installation and post installation. Factor in the cost of simulator downtime to your decision when considering levels of support. Choose from our Cobra Care remote essentials or Cobra Care Plus options.
